Reflexology
Reflexology dates back thousands of years to Ancient Egypt, China and India and developed in the West from the early 1900's. It is a non-invasive complementary touch therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body (click on the foot chart). Leonardo da Vinci said “the human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art”. There are over 7,000 nerve endings in there, that when activated, release a surge of endorphins that activate our parasympathetic nervous system putting us in a state of deep relaxation and allowing our body to begin the critical job of nourishing, regenerating, and healing itself. It stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels and helps to restore homeostasis (balance) in the whole body. Reflexology can be used safely alongside standard healthcare to promote better health.
